Academic Opportunities
Upper Rogue Center for Educational Opportunities (URCEO) provides an alternative learning environment for EPSD9 students who benefit from a more individualized approach. Each student participates in a guided pathway designed to help them stay on course for graduation. The small-group setting allows educators to tailor instruction, offer targeted support, and help students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
Who Thrives at URCEO?
URCEO offers a wide range of personalized learning opportunities designed to meet the diverse needs of our students and families. Whether you're exploring flexible scheduling, individualized academic pathways, a supportive alternative learning environment, or different routes to graduation, we are here to help you find the option that fits best.
URCEO is a safe, supportive, and innovative learning community designed for a wide variety of learners. Our flexible hybrid model, small class sizes, and personalized approach make URCEO an excellent fit for students who:
- Learn best in a calm, structured, trauma-informed environment.
- Prefer a smaller school community where they are known, supported, and valued
- Need flexible scheduling due to work, family responsibilities, health needs, or life circumstances.
- Seek a fresh start academically or socially.
- Thrive with individualized attention and strong student-teacher relationships.
- Benefit from hybrid or virtual learning options while still maintaining a sense of belonging
- Want to accelerate progress toward graduation at their own pace.
- Are looking for a supportive pathway back to success after disengagement or inconsistent attendance.
- Prefer an alternative to traditional high school models that honors their voice, goals, and learning style.
At URCEO, we believe every student deserves a place where they can grow, feel safe, and achieve their future goals. Our mission is to meet students where they are, help them discover their strengths, and ensure they leave with the skills and confidence needed for life beyond school.
Diploma Track
The Diploma Track is designed for students who are working toward a traditional high school diploma while benefiting from URCEO’s flexible, student-centered learning environment. Students complete courses aligned with Oregon Department of Education graduation requirements, supported by a hybrid model that allows learning to happen in the ways and at the times that work best for them.
Many students choose this pathway because they thrive with options such as extended time, alternative hours, a calm and supportive setting, or individualized academic guidance. Whether students are seeking a smaller learning community, a fresh start, or a more personalized approach to earning their diploma, the Diploma Track provides the structure, flexibility, and encouragement needed to make steady, meaningful progress toward graduation.
GED Track
The GED Track supports students who choose an alternative route to demonstrate high school-level knowledge and earn a credential recognized across colleges, employers, and training programs. Students prepare for assessments in four core subject areas, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, using an online preparation platform paired with one-on-one or small-group support from URCEO teachers.
This pathway is a strong option for students who prefer learning at their own pace, want to focus intensely on specific subjects, or are seeking a flexible schedule while they work toward their goals. The program blends independence with expert guidance, ensuring every student is confident, prepared, and supported on the way to earning their GED.
